Munzon fires 34, leads the Heat to first win

HÀ NỘI — Saigon Heat found their first win in the ASEAN Basketball League after defeating Kaohsiung Truth  九 九- 八 六 on Saturday on their home turf in HCM City.

Heritage import Joshua Munzon performed masterful shooting displays to score his career-high of  三 四 points with an efficient  一 二-of- 一 九 shooting, including  六-of- 八 from three-point zone, as the Heat avenged their loss to the Kaohsiung Truth in Taiwan last week.

Munzon also had three rebounds, three assists, and six steals in the breakthrough victory.

Meanwhile, Lenny Daniel provided ample support, finishing with  二 八 points, four rebounds, and two blocks. David Arnold played his best game of the season, as well, adding  一 八 points, four boards, and four dimes.

“We know our capabilities,” the Heat’s head coach, Tony Garbelotto, said on the tournament’s website. “They out-competed us last Saturday. Tonight, we out-competed them.”

The Heat will be back on the road on Friday against defending champions Westports Malaysia Dragons. The Truth will take on the Dragons, as well, on January  二 五. — VNS
